Super Eagle and KAA Gent striker, Gift Orban, has been nominated for the UEFA Europa Conference League Player of the Week award after scoring a hat-trick in the Buffalos’ 3-2 comeback victory over Icelandic outfit Breidablik on Thursday night. The 21-year-old gave Gent the lead in the sixth minute, but Breidablik fought back with two goals from Jason Svanthorsson. Gent, however, won it through a penalty from Orban in the 54th minute and another strike 21 minutes from time.
Orban’s hat-trick was his first in European competition and his second of the season overall. He is now the top scorer in the UECL with five goals in four matches. Orban is up against Bodo/Glimt’s Faris Moumbagna, Svanthorsson of Breidablik, and Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Dor Peretz for the award.
